Police seized two firearms and several rounds of ammunition in two separate incidents in St. Catherine on Friday, May 19.
In the first incident, which took place about 2:10 p.m., officers were carrying out checks on Young Street when they saw a man acting in a suspicious manner.
The man was accosted and searched and one 9mm pistol with a magazine containing ten 9mm rounds of ammunition was taken from a bag he was carrying. He was subsequently arrested and charged.
He has since been identified as Robert Duncan, otherwise called ‘Ben’, a 21-year-old labourer of Elerslie Meadows, Spanish Town.
Duncan is scheduled to appear in the St. Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday, May 30.
In the second incident, about 5:00 p.m., an abandoned building was searched and one Mini 14 Ruger Sub-Machine Gun and three 5.56 cartridges were seized in Backlands, March Pen, St. Catherine.
No one was arrested in connection with this seizure.
